| For some reason, walking through that door produced far different results than initially anticipated. You suddenly find yourself whisked away to an enormous building sheathed in marble. Checkered tiles are everywhere and people in sharp business suits are moving briskly through the halls, conferring in low voices and carting around more documents than you've seen in your lifetime. A small line stretches before you, leading to a woman in a business suit and horn-rimmed glasses. "Want to go home? Fill out a Gatekey request form OPO-25A and submit it to the Executive Subcommittee of Other-Planar Affairs, we should have you home in 5-10 business days, barring unforseen consequences." The woman before you is severe, to use the term lightly. Her expression is clearly bored and disdainful as she takes a sip from her "Multiverse's Best Employee" coffee mug, the substance being blacker than charcoal. "Yes yes, you want to go home," she interrupts before you can get a word in edgewise. "That's all well and good but here we follow procedure. Fill out the proper form and refer to the Bureau of Other-Planar Licensing for your interim needs. Be sure to drop by the Bureau of Secrecy Ordinance and advise them of your arrival and expected return date, and fill out the transfer form OPT-38B in triplicate. Be sure to include the world code in all 57 specified locations." Before you can even reply she stamps a red [APPROVED] on a vistor's badge and hands it to you before shooing you away to make room for the next one in line. As you approach the nearest archway, you note a huge sign stretching above it. "Welcome to Confuto Ordinatio!" |
