[The melted stuff is just ordinary plastic, however being down this low, he could see there's a noticeable difference in color of the floor.]

[Checking out the floor color now - he'll try to see what kind of shape this different color makes on the floor and just how big the discolored bit is. He'll be looking for causes of the coloration as well.

The floor's a weird color here. Also, this pen was half-melted when I found it, but now it's completely gone.
