ITP: Oh look, another first.

[Kyoko pops up on the camera, not quite looking like herself. Her hair is messier than usual and she isn't quite her usual enthusiastic self. Actually, judging by the flannel she's wearing, she hasn't gotten out of bed at all today.

She pauses for a minute, visibly thinking, then speaks up.]

Guys? Does it normally hurt when a friend goes away?

[Because Namine is gone, and she's the first person Kyoko had ever really truly considered a friend.]

[Kyoko nods, hugging a pillow close with one arm.]

So.... she.... she won't even remember me and I--it'd be bad if I go to see her.

[But she's tempted. Honestly tempted to just run off and try to see her and make her remember. ~~Actually, that has a subplot idea boiling the player will ask the mods about later on tonight.~~]

...I see. In a way, that's even more difficult than my experiences...

What happened to you?

...Perhaps I should introduce myself. I'm Colonel Roy Mustang of the Amestrian military.

I've served alongside many men and women who left home to fight for their nation...and ultimately die for it.

I'm Kyoko of 134. And, um....

You couldn't bring those people back? [Death's a concept she doesn't understand too well. Sure, there were a few deaths in Kyonko's life, a grandfather, an aunt, a classmate in elementary school, tragically, but those memories are so distant and faint now compared to the vibrant shining ones Kyoko has made for herself it's hard to grasp.

CO having the technology to resurrect people with the only side effect being horrendous debt does not help matters.]

[If it were in Roy's power, he knows he would. He remembers all too well the feeling he felt as he stood over Maes's grave immediately after his funeral.]

Unfortunately, bringing the dead back to life is impossible in my world.

[And she remembers Aethr, but all she remembers of it is, well, Koizumi and Kyonko and others were trapped there, all of whom got out. No one she knew had died....]

Why?

Because once a person dies, his or her soul departs from the mortal coil. And there's no way to bring a soul back.

But the same thing happens here and they bring people back! I saw a person mauled and they fixed her! Why can't they fix all those other people, too?

[Fortunately, Roy has done his homework, so he won't waste any time expressing surprise that there exists an order of clerics that can resurrect the deceased.]

Having only read about the resurrection process myself, I can only make an educated guess.

Like what?!

[She's upset, forgive her.]

[He doesn't blame her. He may send an Agent over with a mug of tea once this conversation is over.]

The clerics that perform the resurrections...they seem to be invoking the powers of the gods they follow. In their world, there must be no doubt as to whether or not gods exist.

In other words, what they appear to be doing is using the power of miracles. My world, on the other hand, runs on scientific laws and adheres strictly to them. Such a thing would not be possible.

[She may not understand much on some subjects, but she does understand powers work differently on different worlds, and that only people such as Haruhi have something put on them to limit their powers. So when he explains it like that, she drops her head a bit and nods and in a small voice says:] Oh.

[A beat, then.] At least I could still see Ne-ne....

...It certainly isn't forbidden, but remember: we're duty bound to not interfere with the destinies of other worlds.

I know. I've gotten the talk a half dozen times over since I wasn't born on any particular world and need to be extra careful or something like that. [The look on her face and her tone clearly says this is true. It's gotten so routine she pretty much blocks out whenever people bring this up.]

...You're a native of CO itself?

Yeah. I'm going to be a year in September.

...Huh. Guess I still have a lot to learn about this place.

Oh, right. I haven't talk to you before, have I.... [She actually thinks about it for a moment] ....Little Pony!

Wait, what?!

[SAILING RIGHT OVER HIS SHOCK]

So you weren't around when I was born. A wizard cloned me from someone else and then I got put in an artificial body when the old one was gonna die.

Uh...wha-wh...what.

[Between that and this...he got lost.]

Yeah! Mr. Pedobear! He took a girl and cloned her and I was the result! But it was boring so I decided to be around these people. It's much more fun!
