[If you're wandering around at night for whatever reason, you might feel a chill run down your spine as everything suddenly feels darker than usual around you.

Down the corridor in the distance is a strange... Shadow. No other word can really describe it. Is this just some sort of Halloween prank? Or is it something more sinister?]

((OOC: A few people have already plotted ahead how this will go, but feel free to have any of your wayward characters spot this thing. But keep in mind, directly confronting it will go very badly at this stage. Flight is recommended.))

[The Shadow just stops, gauging its newest prey.

Interesting.

While it isn't the same as what she's used to dining on... she certainly seems delectable.

And so now it's slowly drifting towards Cenia... picking up speed as its gets ever closer.]

[Cenia draws her sword.]

I do not know what you are, but if you do not cease to do what you are doing, I will have to use force.

[It does not seem at all inclined to agree... instead, tendrils dripping with shadowy energy just shoot at Cenia.

Even for a ghost, the air probably feels thick with a sense of... evil.]

[Of course, Cenia has felt evil before - lived in it, even - and is thus less concerned than she should be. Thus she engages, trying to cut the tendrils that approach her while moving closer to the main thing to stab it. Unfortunately, it is stronger than she thought...]

[The damage done to the creature doesn't seem at all permanent... for every tendril cut away, another simply grows out to replace it. The monster's regeneration is nearly instantaneous.

But more pressingly, its shadow seems to be expanding along the ground...]

[Cenia notices now that it is, indeed, very dangerous, and thus does what she can to speed this up - and now quickly tries to approach the center to slash it hard with a series of brutal cuts]

[The slashes find purchase, cutting into the foe... who despite her shadowy presence, Cenia might notice actually feels... human, when being cut into.

And just as victory seems possible, the Shadow's figure beginning to weaken and fall back...

The expanded shadow beneath Cenia will suddenly begin to drag her down, sinking into unending darkness.]
