[Those who venture outside may be treated to a full-scale Pokemon 'battle' between Atsuro's weakest demon and his only Pokemon.  Actually, they'll probably be treated to a scene of Kabuso alternately poking Bidoof repeatedly in the stomach, pulling on its ears, riding on top of it, and generally being a nuisance while Atsuro yells and rages.  Bidoof looks terrified.]

I choose you!  Majuu Kabuso!  Go -- Attack with Zan!

Quit it with the funky screaming, loser.  What'm I s'pposed to be fighting now?  That pathetic thing?

It's a training montage. Roll with it.  Alright, Doofy!  You gotta dodge, OK?  If you do well, there's some biscuits in it for you!  There's a good beaver!

2.  [in the lounge of the agent dorms]
[Holding Bidoof tightly in his lap, Atsuro gazes at the television screen with stars in his eyes.  Bidoof's eyes, in contrast, are glazed over.  Together, they are watching the final episodes of Ash's adventures in the Kanto Pokemon League.  They've probably been sitting there for hours by now.]

You watching, Doofball?  Keep your eyes on the screen -- That's where we'll be soon enough.  Yeah . . .

3.  [by the Gate to the Pokemon World]
[Clutching Bidoof dejectedly under one arm, Atsuro stares at the newest technological contraption he's picked up with some measure of dismay.  The Poketch reveals that . . . ]

How do you even lose levels?  Is that possible?  This thing is defective, right?  Darnit, Bidoof.  You gotta stop doofing off.  Maybe it's time to just call it quits . . . For the day, I mean.

[Omi had been hobbling wandering around with Chingling, letting his programs run their course trying to gather more information, and he stopped by the Gate complex. He was about to ask about Atsuro's new toy, when...]

There's no way he's only level 6. It was definitely higher when we started.

[Bidoof recognizes his chimey friend from several months ago and begins to air-paw. Atsuro ignores it.]

. . . I was. I can't even remember now. Bidoof must be wearing off on me.

[Omi chuckled, and Chingling floated just out of reach of Bidoof]

You know, after everything's over, we should go out training together. I was going over the world info, and it seems like Petalburg would be a good place for us to train around. And maybe pick up some more Pokemon.

[Bidoof squirms so much that Atsuro eventually puts it on the floor, where it begins to run in circles underneath the bell Pokemon.]

All that trouble with Carmen Sandiego, huh? Yeah, I figured we've stalled. I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a day off . . .

But definitely! I'm up for it. And so's Bidoof!

Well, Ran-san gave me some new information, so I'm trying to dig deeper on it.

I wanna get my leg worked out again, too. But we can take the entire weekend, and level up.

Oh, you mind if I ask what? I don't mind helping you out again. Being genre-savvy might help with these kinds of clues.

[Bidoof is content to run around in circles chasing his friend.]

Yeah, let me know if you ever want me to try another dose of Dia or something. Don't push yourself. We have as much time as we need.

Apparently, there's some sort of backdoor method of going between worlds.

Unfortunately, at this point I think it's just getting used to using it again. I'll probably ask Georik-sensei if he's got any suggestions for therapy for it.

Backdoor method . . . ? That doesn't make much sense. A world doesn't have a front or a back; it just has random . . . holes.

Yeah, just try to relax until it heals up. Broken legs take about a month or two, I think.

[Bidoof actually stands up on its hind legs to try and reach the bell, which is impressive. Atsuro blinks in slight astonishment for a moment or two before shrugging.]
