All right, competitors. We will be fighting against each other in the ring, but until that moment, I am still your ally, and I wish to see you all fighting your best. Therefore, I am offering a quick crash course in creating and using your own spellcards. I would highly recommend taking this, as I will not be offering an other opportunity. Feel free to swing by the Simulation Chamber in the next few hours, and I will do what I can.

All right, I shall begin.

Danmaku is a form of fighting that relies just as much on aesthetics as it does on power. Specifically designed not to cause fatal harm, the goal is to wear down the opponent, and ensure they run out of spellcards before you run out of yours. You must also bear in mind that flight is common in Gensokyo, so you must consider every axis on the plane in your attacks. Would you like a demonstration?

Ah! How about this? I have been retooling a card I purchased in the market a while back so it feels a little less like I am stealing. Perhaps you could offer me some advice on it while I demonstrate?

Holy. Shit. Since there is no video to explain, it works as thus: Ran moves, faster than one would expect, spraying circles of danmaku that spread slowly, then seems to disappear. She reappears in another location, far from where she was running, and fires a gigantic damn laser before dashing again, firing more circles of bullets. And so on and so forth, until the card runs out, and ensuring she never hits Minato.

What do you think? Needs work?

Of course. Though it seems some people have learned to channel their native abilities into danmaku. Perhaps you should try that as well? We can analyze your strengths and weaknesses and go from there.

Yeah, we are. My ability is actually pretty similar to his, so if he's ever told you about it, then that would probably simplify things.

A little bit here and there. Yes, try channeling that into your spell cards. Obviously, you'll have to work a little for the patterns; for that, I suggest making sure they're relatively dense first, and then working on the imagery.
