On the screen can be seen the now familiar form of Randolph Carter. He appears to be in a discussion with that young Atsuro chap about something. In the background, Omi can be seen at a computer. Carter is holding up a very arcane and important-looking book.

"It is--true, then," he says, appearing to squint at the book from behind his mask. "The creatures...from...beyond--cannot move if a cat is--looking at...them--"

"He means Kashihara's monsters!"

Carter appears unruffled at Atsuro's impromptu clarification. "Yes. And him, as--well. And...furthermore, it is--stated...that such creatures are weakened...by the sound of a cat's--meow."

Atsuro turns to stare now at the PDA, a tone of intense excitement in his voice. "You listening, guys?! If there's any chance of bringing him down at all, this is it! Cats can immobilize the creatures of the Crawling Chaos and weaken them with their meow! I think we've just might get a shot!"

The screen flickers off.

[Intensely filtered, private to Councilors, Ramirez, and Morrison]

The screen flickers back on again for these people only, showing Carter and Atsuro again.

" . . . Alright, we weren't kidding when we had something important to say. That's not it, though." The excitement has died from Atsuro's voice now as he speaks cautiously into the communications device. He turns to meet Carter's gaze for a moment, before nodding and continuing on. "I'm sending this out only to people we think need to know about it. Please, it's important that you keep it as quiet as you can. Nyarlathotep's real weakness we might be able to exploit . . . It's not cats. That's a lie. Just a rumor. . . . And that's exactly it. It's probably best if you hear from the source." Carter hands him the book. "Lord of Rumours is the Crawling Chaos, yet by rumour bound, as well, as are all who regard the mind and soul as playthings. Human consciousness is a thing unreckoned and unreckonable, even by them such as the Crawling Chaos. Take great care, however, in employing rumour against him--let unity of cause be your watchword, be sparing, be specific."

When he finishes reading, the boy sighs lightly. "This might be the key to defeating him. We'd have asked for some kind of permission before this, but -- Agent Seta and his team are on their way now. Maybe to meet Kashihara. We had to do what we could to help them out. Gouto's with them, after all. Anyway . . . This is all Mr. Carter's doing. He'll probably deserve a medal if this works out. This is Agent Kihara and Agent Carter, signing off."
