Josh pops the hood, as it were.

"Yeah, I'm getting used to how my weapons work as WEAPONS, instead of dreams. Slow going. I think you can relate..."

"You and NiGHTS ever talked before?"

Deimonea blinks at the mecha.

"Uh. He and I've talked. It seems he's a Nightmaren, but that means different things for him."

Josh sighs.

"See, I need to find out what the dreamworlds have in common. It'll help us WIN instead of SURVIVE back home, you know?"

"That'd be a long explanation I'm not sure you'd understand. Few understand when I try to tell them how things work, even other Dreams. And I'd have to study the other dreamworlds more."

"Hmm, maybe my notes would help." Casually, Deimonea pulls off her shirt. Another identical shirt is underneath. She inverses the removed shirt, showing extremely dense text with diagrams. It has a strange cadence overall, a mixture of psychological terms, surreal imagery, and clinical tone.

"Just fine, for a first-timer on Medium," Josh grunted. "Not used to slow reaction time."

"That's a Grepenst, isn't it? I get the impression those things are hard to handle."

"Not for physical mechs, not really," he sighs. "At least, not for the ones designed to tank. Slow reactions, but it's meant to survive burly brawls, not escape them."

"How many types have you handled?" She asks between training sets.

He sighs. "My ANIMa and this. After the fiasco that was my round in the tourney, I figured I'd better learn how to fight out of an ANIMa."

"I bet the two ARE very different. So you're starting with one and working your way to other forms? That's not a bad idea, actually..." The voice sounds thoughtful. "I need to familiarize myself with mech fighting too. You realize the largest thing I've had to pilot was the Epoch?"

"The Epoch? ...Oh, your time machine. It wasn't that big?"

"Not compared to a mech, it wasn't. It was... sort of like one of those cars, just wider."

"Gotcha. Yeah, things meant for battle tend to be bigger just for the armor."

"Yeah. Epoch was never meant to go into battle. But those robots are so huge, it makes me wonder why they don't collapse under their own weight."

Josh laughs. "Seriously. It's bulky but it's a lot lighter than it looks. Mixing alloy is easier in space, apparently."
