[Those who venture outside may be treated to a full-scale Pokemon 'battle' between Atsuro's weakest demon and his only Pokemon.  Actually, they'll probably be treated to a scene of Kabuso alternately poking Bidoof repeatedly in the stomach, pulling on its ears, riding on top of it, and generally being a nuisance while Atsuro yells and rages.  Bidoof looks terrified.]

I choose you!  Majuu Kabuso!  Go -- Attack with Zan!

Quit it with the funky screaming, loser.  What'm I s'pposed to be fighting now?  That pathetic thing?

It's a training montage. Roll with it.  Alright, Doofy!  You gotta dodge, OK?  If you do well, there's some biscuits in it for you!  There's a good beaver!

2.  [in the lounge of the agent dorms]
[Holding Bidoof tightly in his lap, Atsuro gazes at the television screen with stars in his eyes.  Bidoof's eyes, in contrast, are glazed over.  Together, they are watching the final episodes of Ash's adventures in the Kanto Pokemon League.  They've probably been sitting there for hours by now.]

You watching, Doofball?  Keep your eyes on the screen -- That's where we'll be soon enough.  Yeah . . .

3.  [by the Gate to the Pokemon World]
[Clutching Bidoof dejectedly under one arm, Atsuro stares at the newest technological contraption he's picked up with some measure of dismay.  The Poketch reveals that . . . ]

How do you even lose levels?  Is that possible?  This thing is defective, right?  Darnit, Bidoof.  You gotta stop doofing off.  Maybe it's time to just call it quits . . . For the day, I mean.

Oh, that's what you meant. They're pretty smart! They can understand English, and they usually get their point across pretty well by gesturing.

Yeah, see? Right now, Bidoof's saying, er . . . "Gosh, I think I'll just roll up into a little ball and use Rollout but my stubby little legs just can't get good traction the ground so I'm going to sit here and do nothing instead.".

Actually, I'm not too sure Bidoof has a brain.

[Actually, Bidoof doesn't seem to know much of anything, but it is curled up into a little ball. Kabuso is using it as soccer practice.]

Pokemon don't get stronger unless they fight. I could try to find some TMs, maybe . . .

Right. But training doesn't mean always fighting. There's other ways to train to. You know, without getting almost eaten by monsters.

That's a little like saying you shouldn't go to school if you don't want to. It sounds good in practice, but it doesn't work out so well in real life.

Not in the Pokemon world. You can't go anywhere without these kinds of fights. You'd get hurt pretty bad.
