[Everything is in place.]

[The ultimate prank shall now commence.]

[The operation begins with Luna, operating using a stolen - and defective - batch of the same serum used by the Confuto Ordinatio Cupid. Making use of her sound-suppressing ability, she will be sneaking a bit of it into the food or drinks of potential victims. There will be no initial effect, because one of the defects of this batch is a several hour time delay before taking effect.]

[Next up is Star, who stays in the room, using her radar ability to keep track of targets who have already been slipped the sauce. For Agents, monitoring continues until they reach the showers. For Enforcers and Councilors, their rooms.]

[From there, we enter the final phase of the plan...]

[Sunny, using her light refraction ability to make herself invisible infiltrates the vicinity of people who are showering. Then, when they aren't looking, she grabs their clothes and runs. Towels, too, if possible. For the Enforcers and Councilors, the next goal is to refract light enough to confuse them out into the hallway, then lock them out. This leaves them damp, naked, and confused.]

[This is about when the potion starts taking effect. Remember: Melodramatic, wistfully-sighing love at first sight.]

[...Did I mention that the side effects of the defective batch include hallucinations and temporary memory loss?]
[identity profile] raven-pursuer.livejournal.com
[This is certainly an unusual sight. Miles Edgeworth is in the Agent Dorms. Specifically, he's standing in front of room 805. He raises his fist and knocks on the door sharply.]

Wright, if you're in there, open up. It's time we ended this farce.
[identity profile] raven-pursuer.livejournal.com
[Edgeworth emerges from the gate to his world, looking very unhappy. He also looks like he was involved in some sort of impact.]

More damaged than it's worth to repair...how could that happen to that particular car, of all things? And why in the world hasn't sending text messages while driving been banned yet?

[...Yeah, it's not too difficult to tell what happened.]
[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
Phoenix has been rather quiet since he woke up in the medical wing. He wants to think everything that happened was just some horrible nightmare, but as he overhears more and more conversations, it quickly dawns on him that it is impossible to say this is the case.

A week... If I'm right, I've been gone a whole week. Trapped in that thing...

Is it true? Was there some sort of false me running around? Is that why I see so many people looking at me with contempt when they pass? What exactly did my imposter do? And... why would they pick me, of all people? I'm new. I'm nobody. It doesn't make any sense.

I told Edgeworth I'd do everything I can to help... but in the end, I just helped create more hassle. Am I really supposed to be here?

He clutches the magatama in his hand as if all sense of his reality depends on his holding it.

((ooc: Phoenix's insecurities has a side effect: any attempts to lie to him right now will manifest psyche-locks, from one for a barely kept secret to five for a deeply guarded one. Carpe diem, as they say.))

[[Text]]

As I'm sure most of you have figured out by now, Phoenix Wright was an impostor. He was responsible for the poisoning of Councilors Thomas and McDowell, as well as the abductions of Councilors Nerine and McDowell.

Furthermore, the poison he used was Dark Arcanum. I know nothing about it, so I don't know how easy it is to procure an antidote. But at least we know the name, and it's better than having no information.

I will be all right. I am remaining in the Chief Enforcer's office for the time being.

Do not ask me to relive the events of what happened in the library. I do not wish to revisit it.
[identity profile] raven-pursuer.livejournal.com
[Anyone who might walk past or into the library may notice a strange scene. First of all, it looks like a huge fight took place. Then, they may notice the dead body of the fake Phoenix Wright lying face-down on the ground. And then they may notice Edgeworth assuming the fetal position a few feet away from the body, trembling. Don't try to get him to talk for now; he won't speak. But he could use some help.]
[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
Hey, Edgeworth? I've got something important I've found out. Could you meet me? I'll let you pick the place. You can probably figure out a better spot than me. Meet me at about quarter to one.
[identity profile] raven-pursuer.livejournal.com
[So! Have you been wondering where Edgeworth is? Well, wonder no longer! The door to his penthouse decided to malfunction and slide open. Inside it's not looking too good. The gravity was doing something really weird. Specifically, it started switching all over the place dozens of times in a single second. As a result, the furniture started shaking around, simulating a certain natural phenomenon.

Hence the esteemed prosecutor unconscious in an easy chair.]
[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
Phoenix had mulled the idea of finding which penthouse was Edgeworth's before deciding that the man would probably be about as welcoming of Phoenix in his personal life here as he was back home -- which is to say, not in the slightest. So he simply explores instead, trying to get a feel for the place. It's intimidatingly big, he has to admit, and the diversity of life he's been running into en route has been a bit illuminating, to say the least.

To think a place like this existed all this time, and nobody ever even suspected. What does it all mean? And why am I here, anyway? What do they see me being able to do for them when they've got six-armed giants and superheroes who could probably do the job better? I just don't get it.

Exploring, as usual, just means "open to you meeting him where the hell ever."

[ACTION; IN HIS ROOM]

Phoenix may not always be the brightest bulb in the package, but even he can pick up upon moving into his new room that his roommate is probably of the female persuasion.

They could have warned me the rooms were co-ed. Just what I needed to make this whole situation even more awkward.

Okay, that works at least... Hi, I'm Phoenix Wright. I guess I'm gonna be an agent around here for now, though I'm not sure why they thought I was suitable for this sort of thing.

Or why I accepted anyway like a doof, aside from the whole mind-wipe clause.

Anyway, I look forward to working with you guys doing... whatever the hell it is we do around here. They were kind of vague on the exact details aside from vague hints of the existence of entire dimensions being at stake, or whatever.

Though I'm pretty sure acting as a defense attorney across dimensional borders is blatantly against the Bar Association rules.

Just point me at whatever, and I'll do it. Within reason, anyway. Nice meeting you all.

And with that, he makes his exit. I hope that wasn't too dumb sounding.

A banquet? My timing with buying a new suit was absolutely impeccable.

I do not think we have met, so allow me to introduce myself. I am Miles Edgeworth, a Councilor here. I have been told that you might appreciate an invitation to the banquet. Might you be interested?

...okay, so that's the rules! Everybody ready?

Ready!

Ready!

All right! Confuto Ordinatio scavenger hunt...

BEGIN!

BEGIN!
BEGIN!

[And they're off! For the rest of the day, the Fairies Three can be found absolutely anywhere they could feasibly get within the C.O. campus. They are all each alone, and furiously looking for stuff, sometimes pocketing small items. And carrying lists. Yes, it's a scavenger hunt!

When you reply, either give the name of a fairy in the comment title, or none and I'll pick myself. Same goes for location - if you don't make one clear, I reserve the right to make it up.]

[Edgeworth emerges from the gate leading to Earth-AA. While this on its own wouldn't be an unusual sight, there are a few things that make it so today. To begin with, instead of his normal maroon suit, he's wearing a somber black suit. He also appears more subdued than normal, and thinking about something else. His pace is slower, too. From the gate complex, he will walk straight to his penthouse to change his clothes and eat dinner. Feel free to approach him at any point.]

(Incredible. When information is needed, the organization seals itself tighter than a pickle jar. But when information is frivolous...just look at what happens.)

Ladies and gentlemen, if I may have your attention, please. No doubt most, if not all, of you have heard the rumors circulating about some sort of party now that we have saved Earth P3/P4. These rumors, at least this time, are not without base.

We are, indeed, holding a celebration. This ball will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. local time, and will continue until midnight. It will be held in the simulation chamber, which will be programmed to accommodate every personnel member of this branch, as well as for the venue chosen. Dress is formal, and bringing partners is encouraged.

Ms. Yukari. I have been asked to open the ball at seven o'clock sharp, and would very much appreciate having a woman to escort for such an occasion. Would you permit me the honor of being your escort for the evening?

Ah -- If anyone is a friend of Enforcer Raidou's, I was given permission to speak with him, and he's doing . . . as well as can be expected.  Please don't be too anxious.  Everything . . . It'll all turn out right in the end, I'm sure of it.

[filtered to Sergeant Morrison and Councilor Edgeworth]
[Ivan wasn't quite sure how best to go about making his report.  Ought it to be given to all Councilors?  All Enforcers?  After a bit of thought, he decided to be cautious about things and directed it only to the two people who had explicitly requested to be informed of what he had discovered.  They could tell anyone else who needed to know.  Ivan, however, addressed himself directly to Enforcer Morrison, attempting to sound as . . . professional as he could.]

I've got a report to make, sir!  I've been able to question Sir Raidou, and from what I've seen and felt of his memories of that night, I'd say that there's no possibility he committed this crime alone.  I'd even go so far as to say that there's no possibility that he was involved in the murder at all.  There are at least three things that don't match up with the theory.

What I think to be the most important point probably won't hold much weight at all.  But Enforcer Raidou genuinely has no recollection of the time after he was arrested, and his expressions of shock and surprise and horror -- They're all real, as far as I can tell.  I won't say that it's impossible for him to lie so well that he's managed to convince even himself, but that wouldn't explain why his mind registered nothing at all for such a long period of time.  I think it's likely that he was given some sort of drug to block his memories and keep him out of the way.  And his cat, Gouto, has a memory of being pricked.  The second thing is that, though it hasn't got much to do with my psychic powers, I don't think it's possible for the cell door to be blasted apart the way it was.  After poking around in his mind, I'll say for certain that Raidou can't perform any magic without his demons, and they were all confiscated during his first arrest.  It might be possible that he was able to hide one, but then it would have been found after the murder, wouldn't it?

But the best I have to offer for his innocence is the only thing Raidou does remember before waking up: the feelings of being pulled and of falling freely.  I was able to enter his mind deeply enough to experience these sensations nearly first hand, and after a bit of thought, I'm convinced that what he experienced was a type of teleportation or summoning magic.  I've been subject to Teleport Psynergy fairly often, and the tug and the pulling sensations are nearly identical.  And the falling can be explained if he was teleported a few feet off the ground.

S-So . . .  if he was teleported, then there's someone else we've got to start looking for.  It'd be a mage powerful enough to teleport a person from a great distance and to melt the bars of a prison.  And since there's almost certainly a second person involved, isn't the extent of Raidou's guilt too vague to determine?  I'm convinced he's completely innocent -- An execution at this point wouldn't be any sort of justice at all.  There were a few other strange things about the evidence, but I'm sure there are people investigating that already.

That's all, sir.  Thank you.
[identity profile] dooralwaysopen.livejournal.com
I hear there was magic used in the murder. Don't much care for magic being used to kill people. We've got plenty of other perfectly good ways to do that already.

With that in mind, I hope no one minds if I take a look at the scene of the crime. Probably all kinds of thaumic residue lying around. You can learn a lot from thaumic residue if you know what to look for.

[EDIT!]

This is just some basic teleportation magic! Any wizard worth his salt could have done this!

[Edgeworth is at the scene of the crime. He's investigating whatever he can find at the scene while it's still preserved. The ground where the victim lay, where the accused stood, where blood splattered the walls...Edgeworth is not leaving a single stone unturned. He's determined to find whatever he can -- especially any books that Elion may have dropped when he was killed.]

[[PRIVATE; TO YUKARI]]

My Lady.

I have thoroughly checked the borders of Gensokyo. Even the slightest sign of thinning has been eliminated to the best of my capabilities. I am unsure if this will prevent a situation like that of World P3/4, but at the very least any possibility of collapse has been prevented.

If I may make a personal request: I am aware of the situation with the senior councilors and their reactions to some of the incidents occurring as of late. With your permission, I wish to at the very least assist in the investigation into Senior Councilor Elion's murder. However, I will only do it if I may do so by your leave. Otherwise, I will trust you to know what is best in this matter.

[[PUBLIC; LIBRARY]]

Ran is reading. Not on programming. On poison.

True crime resulting in deaths are such a rarity in Gensokyo, though whether this is simply because of the difference between what constitutes crime here and there or simply the matter of finding comparatively simplistic ways to solve incidents, it is hard to say.

*to herself* Though I do sometimes think it would simply be easier to shoot everything until we find an answer like the shrine maiden does...

ETA:

[[PRIVATE; COUNCILOR EDGEWORTH'S QUARTERS]]

Congratulations, Edgeworth! You have just witnessed Ran pull off what can only be termed a "Batman," hiding in the shadows like that.

Councilor Edgeworth. I apologize for meeting you suddenly like this. But I have decided it would be prudent if I kept off the official channels.

The poison you describe, I'm afraid, is kept under a great deal of security. All I have been able to deduce is that it is not only banned multiversally, but that it is composed of a number of different ingredients, all from different worlds, and none of which I am able to produce information on. Do you perhaps have any thoughts on this?

The present plan is to execute Enforcer Kuzunoha without giving him a fair trial. I am determined to not let such a miscarriage of justice be committed. This crime is too suspicious, and I will not relax for a second until I have discovered the truth behind this murder.

I want anyone experienced in criminal investigations, especially those concerning murder, to report to my suite. I am going to conduct my own investigation into this matter. I've already spoken to Enforcer Kiske, who has agreed to lend his own talents to the investigation.

For now, our primary objective is to find some evidence that will cast a reasonable doubt on whether or not Enforcer Kuzunoha committed the crime. Once we accomplish that, we will have earned him the right to a trial.

We have three weeks. Time is of the utmost essence.
